So as y’all probably noticed, I took a conspicuous absence from writing once I got to my second trimester in the Dec/Jan time frame. I decided to keep my pregnancy off of social media once I reached the point when I lost Nyla.
I made the decision to do so because everything was going to be new, something I hadn’t experienced before. I really wanted to focus on myself because I was having a hard time with being pregnant again in the emotional aspect.
I am very happy to say I made it to 38 weeks and then had a baby girl via c-section!! Her name is Alexandria Grace (Lex for short) and she is already 2.5 months old and about 11 lbs. She is the best little baby in the whole world and I love her so much I can’t even find the words to describe it.
We were very lucky to have her when we did, her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck 5 times. I had gone into L&D triage as I hadn’t felt her move in 2 days and after they did the NST monitoring they decided that she was “stressed out” and should probably come out now. I was all set to be induced when her heartbeat started getting all wonky so they opted for an elective c-section rather that possibly have to do an emergency one. It wasn’t until they pulled her out that they saw how she was wrapped up with her cord!
Miraculously she was just fine and only needed oxygen for about a half hour after birth. She wasn’t a big eater so she was underweight for a bit, but once formula was introduced to help she became quite the little fatty! Her rolls are so cute, and she is a hefty little chunker now.
I stayed home for 6 weeks, and then my husband took 3 weeks off while I went back to work. After she was old enough to get her shots she went to daycare, and appears to love it!
Being a mom to a baby that is here with me is an adjustment, but it is better than I could ever have imagined.
